THROCKEN LEATHER / EVEREST

A trail you can return to.

This site will follow a trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp, with 360° footage recorded along the way.

For now, explore the terrain and the main villages on the classic south approach. After the trek, recorded GPS tracks will connect the map to views from the trail.

Using the map

Drag to move. Scroll or pinch to zoom. Right-drag to tilt and rotate, or use the map controls. Select a location to fly there.

Satellite view

Satellite photographs are draped over the 3D terrain. Switch between Satellite and Map without changing your viewpoint. You can rotate, tilt and zoom in either view.

The satellite layer is EOxCloudless, a mosaic of modified Copernicus Sentinel data from 2016 at approximately 10 m resolution. It shows the landscape, not current trail or glacier conditions. Zooming closer does not add photographic detail.

About the map data

The initial overview joins approximate village locations, not a surveyed trail or a confirmed daily itinerary. Elevations are approximate. Nepal's terrain uses a global 30 m elevation model; it does not show individual rocks or steps.
